PRESS RELEASE
BOVINGDON PARISH COUNCIL PRECEPT ANNOUNCED FOR 2025/26
Bovingdon Parish Council has approved an increase in its precept for the 2025/26 financial year. The annual charge for a Band D property will rise by £3.84 - from £39.25 to £43.09. Despite this increase, the Band D precept in Bovingdon is much lower than its neighbours, with the Kings Langley Band D charge currently set at £58.30 and Chipperfield at £69.77 before the application of any increase for 2025/2026.
The precept is a vital source of income for Parish Councils; however, it constitutes less than 2% of the total Council Tax paid by Bovingdon residents. All Councils are facing unprecedented increases in costs, and it is worth noting that over 15% of the overall increase will be taken up by the recently announced increase in National Insurance contributions.
The Council supports a broad range of services, it manages the Memorial Hall, is responsible for outdoor spaces, public benches, maintaining flower beds, bus shelters, public toilets, litter picking etc. It also supports community initiatives such Christmas lights, national commemoration events and much more.
The Council is managed by two part time employees and ten Parish Councillors, who all serve as unpaid volunteers. This increase ensures the Council can continue to deliver important services and support the community effectively.
